Hi, thanks so much for visiting my blog. I'm new at this and learning still, so everything is a work in progress. A little about me. I have always had an innate drive to create things. It might have come from watching my Gramma cook and bake or sitting next to her sewing machine while she made clothes for me. This passion led me to make clothes and houses for my dolls, bake cookies for my friends, and decorate my room in pink. When I was twelve, I began entering my pies in competitions and even won a couple of first and second place prizes. My senior year of high school I was given the privilege of designing and making all of the costumes for The Sound of Music. Many years later I made my sister-in-law’s brides maids dresses and my own wedding dress. I love anything creative!!
It was clear I needed a creative outlet for a career after spending my first two years in college majoring in Elementary Education. I considered Fashion Design, but the thought of going to New York City scared me to death. My path led me toward Interior Design and I have never looked back! I received a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design, which has led to an amazing career over the past 17 years; I am a professional member of ASID and NCIDQ certified, have worked on amazing commercial and residential projects, as well as lots of my own stuff. After years of putting a lot of hours into my career every week, it was time to take a break to put our family first.
After many years of trying unsuccessfully to have another child, we were blessed in 2007 with the birth of our second daughter. Our girls are everything to us and the passion of my life is my family. I love creating beautiful things for them and...I do it on a budget {even though I am an Interior designer, I'm a stay-at-home Mom first}. I do still take on design projects occassionally, as long as they fit well into our family life and I aspire to create something beautiful every day for my family; a meal, a mid-week treat, pillows for my daughter’s princess room, or anything else I can think of. I have started Designed to a Tea to have a place to share my ideas, recipes, and projects. I hope you’ll follow along and come back often!!
